Final collage, with raw images combined in Photoshop and edited to add enhanced sunlight effect, sketched wall and ceiling detail, and decorative objects. Printed on 11x17” paper. Goal was to join all elements into a unified indoor and outdoor space.

Digital Collage

Individual project for Studio 2D course at the University of Michigan, 2019

The purpose of this project was to use different mediums, including hand-drawing, photography, and digital drawing, as well as different software such as Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop, to create a collage.

First, I created patterns using various hand-drawing, Illustrator, and Photoshop techniques. Using Photoshop, I applied these patterns to surfaces including the sofa, table, carpet, and woman’s sweater.

Next, I stylized photographs using Illustrator and Photoshop to use as paintings in the final collage. I also cut out images from stock photos to use as props.

Finally, I captured images around campus to use as basis of collage. I collaborated with a classmate to obtain a human subject. My goal for the final collage was to join all elements into a unified indoor and outdoor space. I combined the raw images in Photoshop and edited to add an enhanced sunlight effect, a sketched wall and ceiling detail, and the decorative objects.
